What is this?

Since I am a fairly new gardener I cannot always identify the plants in my garden . And I have a habit of purchasing plants on sale in the Fall, planting them and then forgetting about them until the spring. Which is what happened with this plant or so I thought.

It started coming up in the flower bed, but I couldn't recall what I had planted. No big deal, I'd just let it grow and be surprised later. I never really thought it was a weed because I hadn't seen it before and it was growing very slowly. I don't know about your weeds in your yard but mine grow 5 feet overnight. So I just assumed it was some bulb or tuber root I had bought on sale the previous year.

It kept growing and growing...and growing. But it never produced a flower. Then I noticed under one of my big pine trees identical plants. Yep it was a weed. But it was a nice weed and I have let some other weeds continue to grow because they had a beautiful flower, like the wild violets, wild strawberries, and another bright pink flower that I just love. With all the energy this plant was putting into growing it should have an awesome flower.

Well is has been 2 1/2 months and this is what I have...the biggest freakin' weed in the world! No flower and I have no clue what it is. I am beginning to think that is growing up to be another shade tree for my porch. Does anyone have a clue what it could be?

Unless this turns out to be a toxic plant I will probably continue to let it grow, since I have left it alone for this long.
